Dear Falls-Lenox Families,

We had a great week celebrating literacy during Right to Read Week this week!  A special thank you to our amazing staff and all of the guest readers who visited classrooms this week.  Also, thank you to all of the families that joined us for Literacy Night last night!

Thank you to those parents who have completed the "Hopes and Dreams" survey sent out by Dr. Lloyd.  If you haven't completed this survey, you can find the link below.  Your input about your hopes and dreams for your child is important to us and our staff.

We are looking for parents of third grade students who would like to participate in our Third Grade Career Day on Friday, March 24th.  If you are interested in being a part of this day, please complete the link below. This event is for the third grade class only.

Next week there will be a district wide spirit week in support of Kyleigh Briggs, an OFHS student, who is participating in The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year 2023 Campaign. This is a seven-week fundraising competition to raise money in support of LLS starting January 27th and continuing thru March 18, 2023.  Kyleigh is asking for our help in supporting this important cause!  To donate and help Kyleigh meet her goal please see the flier below.   Families can donate through the link, on the flier, or students can bring in money next week for the collection.  If your child is bringing in money, please put it in a sealed, labeled envelope.  

District - Wide, there will also be a spirit week next week in support of LLS :

Hopes and Dreams Survey 

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Whether your student is an itty-bitty Bulldog at the ECC, a senior in the class of 2023 at OFHS, or in a grade somewhere in between, you have hopes and dreams for them. Just like your child is unique, your hopes and dreams for them are too. That is why YOUR input about YOUR child(ren) is so important to us. 

The Parent/Caregiver Hopes & Dreams for Students Survey is currently underway.  Sharing your thoughts will help us know what is important to you, and how we can help deliver the benefits you expect to receive from Olmsted Falls Schools.  We have hopes and dreams for your children too:  to inspire and empower students to make a contribution to the world.  Knowing the aspirations, you have for your child will help us fulfill that vision.

You're Invited! Humble Conversations with Dr. James Knight

Join other Bulldog parents and students on Wednesday, March 8th at 6:30 PM at Olmsted Falls High School for "Humble Conversations" with Dr. James Knight. Humble Conversations are rooted in a framework built upon the belief that what our world needs now more than ever is a dose of humility. Join Dr. Knight as he discusses the importance of cultural humility in building deeper connections across differences. Diversity is something to be embraced, not feared. School Times:

School Day:  8:00-2:35

Tardy Bell:  7:55 a.m. (Students must be in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. Students entering classrooms after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy.)

Office Hours:  7:30-3:30 (You can leave a message after 3:30 p.m.)

Note: If your child is a car-rider, doors open at 7:35 a.m. and are open until 7:55 a.m.  The side doors are locked at 7:55 a.m.  If your child is coming to school after 7:55 a.m., they will need to enter through the front doors.  If your child plans to eat breakfast, please have them at school by 7:45.  Students cannot enter prior to 7:35 am.

School Fees:

Grades 1-2:  $90.00 Total

Grade 3: has an additional $25 for a Chromebook Device fee

$7.00 - Art supplies

$16.00 - Field Trips/activities

$25.00 - Technology (Reading A-Z, RAZ Kids, SeeSaw, Compass Learning)

$42.00 - Instructional (Bridges Math Workbook, Science Fusion Workbook, Handwriting workbook, Scholastic News, etc.)

Questions to ask your child about their school day, instead of "How was school"?

1. What made your smile today?

2. Who did you sit with a lunch?

3. If you could change one thing about today, what would that be?

4. What was the hardest rule to follow today?

5. Tell me something you know today that you didn't know yesterday.

6. What did you learn today?  What did you enjoy learning the most today?

7. Tell me what you are writing about during writing workshop.

8. Tell me about a book you read or was read to you today.

Clinic Updates -  Please do not send your child to school with a fever, diarrhea, or more than 2 of the following symptoms:  cough, shortness of breath, chills, fever, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea.  Students cannot return to school after a fever or diarrhea until they have gone 24 hours symptoms free.  If your child is identified as a close contact, please monitor for symptoms.  Call off your child using our attendance line:  440-427-6411.
