Dear Falls-Lenox Families,

I hope that your family is able to relax and enjoy time together over spring break!  There is no school Friday,  April 7th - April 16th. School will resume on Monday, April 17th.  Upon returning, I am looking forward to the last couple months together with our amazing students and staff!

A special thank you to Jessica Carey, Kelly Gonzalez, and the PTA STEM Night Committee for organizing, planning, and hosting Family STEM Night this week. It was a fun evening, and we appreciate all of our families who joined us!

Our new word of the month for April is Courage. We teach students ways to develop and display courage, such as:  speaking up for yourself, standing up for a friend, introducing yourself to someone new, doing something you've never done before, making the right choice, asking an adult for help, etc.  

April Palmer, one of our district social workers, is working to designate our district/school as a Purple Heart School.  We have many children whose parents are in the military.  In order to honor our military children, we are holding spirit days. In April is also when we will find out if each of the schools was picked as a Purple Star Designated school. Thank you for your support on this project.  

In honor of this, the district will be having the following spirit days:

• Monday, April 17th- Dress in your favorite military branch attire

• Friday, April 28th- Wear Orange to show UNITY

As we head into spring, all grade levels will be attending field trips.  Dates for these field trips are now posted below.  District-wide, school fees must be paid prior to the field trips dates below in order for students to attend the field trip.  To pay your child's school fees, please visit www.ofcs.net, or call our main office at 440-427-6402.  If you would like to talk with me personally about your child's school fees, please contact me at 440-427-6401 or lwilliams@ofcs.net.

Jump Rope Club Sign - Ups

The spring session of jump rope club will begin Tuesday, April 18th. Please click the link below to sign up.

School Day:  8:00-2:35

Tardy Bell:  7:55 a.m. (Students must be in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. Students entering classrooms after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy.)

Office Hours:  7:30-3:30 (You can leave a message after 3:30 p.m.)

Note: If your child is a car-rider, doors open at 7:35 a.m. and are open until 7:55 a.m.  The side doors are locked at 7:55 a.m.  If your child is coming to school after 7:55 a.m., they will need to enter through the front doors.  If your child plans to eat breakfast, please have them at school by 7:45.  Students cannot enter prior to 7:35 am.

Grade 3: has an additional $25 for a Chromebook Device fee

Questions to ask your child about their school day, instead of "How was school"?

1. What made your smile today?

2. Who did you sit with a lunch?

3. If you could change one thing about today, what would that be?

4. What was the hardest rule to follow today?

5. Tell me something you know today that you didn't know yesterday.

6. What did you learn today?  What did you enjoy learning the most today?

7. Tell me what you are writing about during writing workshop.

8. Tell me about a book you read or was read to you today.

Clinic Updates -  Please do not send your child to school with a fever, diarrhea, or more than 2 of the following symptoms:  cough, shortness of breath, chills, fever, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea.  Students cannot return to school after a fever or diarrhea until they have gone 24 hours symptoms free.  If your child is identified as a close contact, please monitor for symptoms.  Call off your child using our attendance line:  440-427-6411.
