January 13, 2023
Dear Falls-Lenox Families,
I hope that everyone has had a great week! There is no school on Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We are looking forward to the district-wide Celebrating Differences Week, which will take place this year the week of January 23rd. The schedule for the week is as follows:
Monday, 1/23: Wear NEON colors: Highlight our Differences
Tuesday, 1/24: Wear College/Career gear: Our Future is Bright
Wednesday, 1/25: Wear Green: Support Mental Health
Thursday, 1/26: Wear Pajamas: Come as You Are
Friday 1/27: Wear Bulldog gear: One Team; One Goal
At Falls-Lenox, we will be kicking off the week of Celebrating Differences week on Friday, January 20th, which is also International Day of Acceptance, with the Todd Waites “True Rockstars Don’t Hate” assembly. His message: EVERYBODY MATTERS, HAS A PURPOSE, AND CAN ACHIEVE GREATNESS! He encourages children to believe in themselves and not allow others to determine their self-worth. If you would like to read more information about our presenter, please visit his website True Rockstars Don't Hate - Todd Waites: School Assemblies, Motivational Speakers, Motivational Speaking, anti-bullying, character building (truerockstarsdonthate.com)
As we move into January, teachers are completing winter DRA's (developmental reading assessments) with each student. Next week, students will be taking the MAP Test in Math. Both the DRA and MAP Tests provide our teachers with valuable information on the achievement and growth of each student. We use this information to provide targeted, small-group intervention and inform classroom instruction. The results of these assessments will be sent home to families once they are completed.
