Sheridan's Wrestlers Dominate MVLs
By Gage Moore, on Friday Feb. 14
With the 2024-2025 wrestling season nearing its end, the Sheridan Generals wrestling team's MVLs have inched closer and closer. The MVLs set the stage for the team to exhibit the hard and determined work they have put in this season.
Coach Bennett leads the wrestling team. “Our goal every year is to win the MVL Tournament, and as long as everyone does their job, we should have a really good chance of winning it again this year,” Bennett had said, prior to the competition. With seasoned wrestlers like Colton Reedy, Jacob Householder, and Logan Householder, winning the MVLs was not an unrealistic goal for the Generals.
“There will be 12 teams in attendance including us but we are competing against the teams in the big school division: Philo, John Glenn, Tri-Valley, River View, and Morgan, I think,” Bennett said when asked before the meet what teams were going to make an appearance.
On Saturday, 2/15/25, the Sheridan wrestling team dominated the Muskingum Valley League Championship. Going up against teams like New Lex, Philo, and Tri-Valley, the Generals managed to pull a total score of 219.0 winning the MVLs for Sheridan. In second place came New Lex with a total score of 215.5 and Philo in third with a score of 195.5. With the MVL win, the Generals wrestling team now prepares for sectionals.
With all of the dedicated work that the team has put in this season, Sheridan Wrestling very easily dominated the MVLs this year due to powerful wrestlers, tactical coaching, and the very determined and dedicated mindsets of each wrestler.
Sheridan Generals Work Hard in the Pre-Season, Hoping for MVL Title
By Jacob R. Haven Harlow, on Friday Nov. 15
With the wrestling season coming soon, the Sheridan Generals’ wrestling team has been working hard. While actual practices haven’t quite started yet, the team has started ‘open mats.’ Open mats is a student athlete run practice, since the coaches can’t technically start coaching yet. The wrestling season is looking promising for the Generals, with the many students participating in the preseason this year, making the team shape up to get better as a whole.
Some of the wrestlers include: Gage Moore, Wesley Shegog, Jacob and Logan Householder, Xavier Folk, Thaddeus Nicodym, Hunter Webb, Corbin “Beano” Price, and of course, the infamous Colton Reedy. There are many others participating, but these athletes are just some of the top athletes.
Overall, the expectations for this year are high with the talent that the team has for this season. The senior class this year has an exceptional amount of talent in itself, and the hopes are high for the wrestling program as a whole. The anticipations are high for this coming wrestling season, for both the athletes and their fans.
