FCA and Its Community!
By Kameron Van Balen, on Wednesday Feb 19
Have you ever wanted to be a part of a bigger community? One that shares your beliefs, plays fun games, and provides snacks? Check out the Sheridan student-led club Fellowship of Christian Athletes!
The FCA Is led by Mr. Culver III, held in his room 110, on Monday nights from 5:30 to 7pm. There you get a chance to play a group game (20-30 students on average), eat snacks (provided by Mr. Culver), and speak about your faith and your beliefs as a group.
“Anyone is welcome and bring a friend!” Mr. Culver III encourages those who attend. Mr. Culver III has been helping lead the FCA for 25 years now, taking it over from a past teacher. Mr. Culver III is extremely proud of the group he is a part of and is excited to lead it for many years to come. When asked what his favorite part of the FCA was Mr. Culer III had to think for a moment, and after going through a few stories he ultimately decided his favorite part of FCA was the community it makes.
“The thing I’ve enjoyed most is how the kids come together, how freshmen and seniors can talk. It breaks down barriers, we’re here to be together and talk about faith and about what it means today. I enjoy the Christmas caroling and the games we play at the meetings” Mr. Culver III said during the interview.
To really make this story I went to a meeting to see what all the fuss was about and it was actually really interesting. I myself am not a Christian, but I found the community at FCA to be amazing and so welcoming. If I was given the chance I would definitely recommend it and I would have definitely brought a friend.
