By Gage Moore, on Aug. 28
The Sheridan Generals hosted the Tri-Valley Scotties girls’ volleyball team at home on Tuesday, Aug 27. Sheridan emerged victorious against the Tri-Valley Scotties with the final score being 3-1.
In the first set, Sheridan’s determination to beat the Scotties helped them quickly find their rhythm. With a very strong lead, the Generals showcased their strong offensive skills and coordinated team play ending the first set score at 25-12.
After the first set, Tri-Valley fought back against the Generals. Both teams went neck and neck leaving the score at 24-24. While both teams displayed a great deal of athleticism on both defense and offense, the Scotties pulled through winning the second set, 24-26.
A defeat in the second set left the Generals bent on repeating their performance in the first set. Thanks to outstanding communication from the offense and strong defensive play, the Scotties failed to halt the Sheridan Generals leaving the 3rd set score at 25-14.
After the last set loss, Tri Valley ramped up the intensity and took a slight lead over the Generals in the 4th set. The Generals offense answered with great desire to win and tied the set with the Scotties. However, Tri-Valley’s offense scored one on the Generals defense leaving the 4th set score resting at 24-25.

The tension in the gymnasium was palpable. However, backed up with an energetic student section, a prideful crowd, and an attentive team, the Generals fought courageously to score 2 points over the Scotties leaving the 4th set score at 27-25 and leaving the final score for the match at 3-1.
After the Sheridan Generals conquering the Scotties in a crushing defeat, Payton Powell was asked how she thought the team performed. “We felt good and felt like we played like a team,” Powell said. The win leaves the Generals girls’ volleyball record at 3-1 and Tri-Valley’s at 2-2. The Gens will prepare to face up against the Philo Electrics (2-3) at home on Thursday, Aug 29.
