Both the boys and girls soccer seasons came to an end after their first sectional games. The boys gave it their all but unfortunately came up short in their game against the Northview Knights. The final score was 4-2. “It’s not how we wanted the season to end,” said Coach Smeltzer, “and though we will miss Clay [Funkhouser] and Jaidan [Curtis] for next year, I can’t wait for the next season to start and see what we can build on from this year!”

The girls team played the best game of their season and fought hard, but they also lost to the Edgewood Mustangs in the end. Bekah Legan, sophomore, scored the first goal of her career during the game, and Courtney Ray, sophomore, was knocked down and out by one of the Edgewood players, which resulted in the player being ejected from the game.

This fall kicked off the inaugural soccer season at Indian Creek. The girls team tried their hardest during their first game on Aug. 13 against the Northview Knights, who had an impressive 60% win percentage in their last season. The game ended in a loss for the girls, but they continue to try their best despite their current losing streak.

The Braves boys soccer team also played the Northview Knights on Aug. 13, and the boys also gave it their all, ending the game with a score of 3 - 0 in favor of the Knights. The boys game on Aug. 24 against Greencastle ended with a score of 5-2, but Jordan Booth scored the first ever Braves Goal in a soccer game, and Clay Funkhouser scored the second. It was a close game and both sides put incredible amounts of work into their performance. The next Braves soccer home games will be on Saturday, Sep. 3 against Sullivan High School with the girls playing at 10 a.m. and the boys playing at 12 p.m.
