October has been a packed month so far for our football team! The Braves started off October with a win against Sullivan High School. Much of the game was spent neck-and-neck with the opponent, but the Braves won in overtime with a final score of 50-49.

Over fall break, there was a game against Northview High School, who gave a good battle until the end. On Oct. 21, the Braves went head-to-head with Franklin County in the first round of sectionals and won another tight game with a final score of 37-36!

The football team will play again Friday at 7 PM against Batesville in the sectional semi-finals. The game will be held at Batesville.

The varsity football team had a busy month of games! Sept. started off rough with a 39-41 loss against Owen Valley, but the next Friday was the first home game of the season and they played against rival school Brown County. The stadium was packed with students, staff, and community members. The morale helped the team win and the final score was 55-0!

The team suffered another loss on Sept. 16 against Triton Central but brought home another win the following Friday against Edgewood.

The second home game of the season is this Friday and is the annual homecoming game. The game will be played against Brownstown Central High School and will start at 7 p.m. The homecoming dance will be on Saturday.

On Aug. 19, the varsity football team kicked off the season with a win! The stadium was packed with family, friends, musicians, and students. “Beach day” was the theme, and the cheer block went above and beyond. Everyone was dressed in Hawaiian shirts, straw hats, and leis. The game could not be hosted at Indian Creek because the turf wasn’t ready yet, but it definitely will be for the next home game on Sep. 9!

Big thanks to Franklin College for letting Indian Creek use their field for the game. This was the first home football game for new head coach Casey Gillin, who shared what he feels to be important in football. “As a coach, show the players that we as a staff care about them,” said Gillin. His future goals include to “move the program forward everyday, whether it be a big step or a small step. Our kids are interested in winning the conference, and then from there, making a run in the playoffs.”
