Powderpuff Football

Powder Puff is a fundraiser Indian Creek does each year for Riley Children's Hospital. This year, the girls raised $640! In the past our football players were the cheerleaders for the night while the girls played the game. This year, we had over 40 girls participate and multiple football boys coaching and helping. Mr. Rector and Mr. Butler were the referees and were very, very passionate about calling fouls on the Junior/Freshman team. Mr. Skobel and Mrs. Oliver were our commentators for the night, but they, like the refs, were biased!

As the game began, the girls were reminded to remove their jewelry before taking the field. Before the first hike, however, nearly every girl was sent off the field to remove earrings or a necklace. As the game progressed, the seniors stayed in the lead. However, they were the first team to get a flag, due to a false start. The first touchdown was by Paige Iaria on the Junior/Freshman team, but Senior Avery Burris scored two touchdowns, the second being after getting tackled. In the end, the Seniors/Sophomores beat the Juniors/Freshmen, 18 to 12.

This was not your only opportunity to give to Riley Children’s Hospital. For more information on how you can make a difference, go to rileychildrens.org/about/ways-to-give or call (317) 944-5000.
