Week ending Friday 23rd February 2024

Dear Families,

We have had a great first week back to school after the half term! Firstly, we would like to say that we are so proud of how responsible and resilient the children have been as we have begun to line up in the KS2 playground. They have done such an amazing job!

This week we have started our new topic which focuses on the book 'The Water Princess' by Susan Verde. We have been learning about Georgie Badiel who is originally from Burkina Faso and has now started a charity to help people in her country have access to clean water. We wrote about the different ways Georgie uses water and why it is important that the water is clean. In maths, we have started to learn about teen numbers with a particular focus on  numbers 11 to 15. The children were able to count and order these numbers with increasing confidence.

Next Friday (1/3) is World Book Day. We will be inviting your child to come into school dressed as a character from their favourite story! It could be a book that we have read in school or a special bedtime story. We can't wait to see what the children come up with!

Have a lovely and restful weekend.

Best Wishes,

The Reception team.
