The softball team has worked very hard this season. Winning the game with SE Halifax 20-0. Katelyn Knox, Kaylie Mitchum, Savannah Babb, Hayden Boyette, Nicole Jeffreys, and Kaliee White all had RBIs. Although the next game with Hobgood Charter School produced 4 RBIs hit by Kaylie Mitchum, Savannah Babb, Kaliee White, and Natalie Bunting, the ending score resulted in 7-17, a loss for our team. During this game, Hobgood, who had only 2 outs, returned to the dugout. The referee allowed the team to retake the field, which is against the rules. The game to Perquimans, unfortunately also resulted in a loss with the score being 1-20. Nevertheless, our NECP softball team works diligently to become better. Way to go team!
NECPs varsity baseball team has played five games this season, winning two of the five. The March 1st game against Bethel Christian Academy resulted in a loss with a score of 0-10. The students played well with Channen Spain, catcher, hitting a triple. In the game with SE Halifax, which our NECP boys won 23-5, Seth Peele hit the opposing team's batter in the arm with the ball. The 3rd game was great as well, with NECP winning against Hobgood Charter 8-7. The fourth, and once again against Hobgood Charter, and the fifth against Perquimans, resulted in losses. Bryce Shipman, the runner for Channen Spain, as of this game has stolen 3 bases this season. Way to go Bryce, just don’t get caught. The last game for the month was awesome against North Edgecombe, resulting in a win, 22-1. Highlights of the best players’ averages this season are:
Jarrett Warren - batting 0.429, on base percentage 0.619, Best ERA 11.05
William Anderson - batting 0.381, on base percentage 0.500
Gavyn Morris - batting 0.353

Keep up the good work TEAM HUSKY!
NECP’s first ever track meet produced a great performance by both our track teams.

In the last relay Tyquaze Staton, Cicere Lancaster, Caleb Anderson, and Chadwick Barnes won with a time of 4.6. Cicere said, “It was a tough finish, we were neck and neck at the end”, he continued smiling, “but we won”.
Semajah Dickens came in first in the 100 meter Dash with a time of 13.8. She commented, “I felt it when I was running, but I was very happy when I won”. The 4x2 race yielded NECP 2nd place, 8 seconds behind Tarboro High. Hats off to Hannah Barfield, who ran the entire time in the 1600 meter race and was the only girl running.
