Start of February Game Scores
On February 2nd, our NECP Boys Varsity Basketball team went against Perquimans High School. They fought hard but lost 48-59.
The NECP Boys Varsity Basketball faced Washington County High School on February 6. They put up a good fight but they sadly lost 37-92.
On the 7th of February, our varsity Huskies went against Sallie B. Howard High School. We sadly lost 44-73.
Our Middle School Girls Basketball team went against Cardinal Charter School on February 8. They defeated them 34-24.

Huskies for the Win!
On February 13, our Husky boys varsity basketball team played against Gates County in an exhilarating game. The game was immersive and intense but our boys pulled through and defeated their opponents! The final score was 45-40. The boys worked hard, and it paid off. Although the season is over, let’s continue to wish them all good luck on their new adventures.

Great News from our Swim Team
The swim team this year had eight varsity swimmers and nine middle school swimmers, coached by coach Lunsford. There were twelve regular swim meets, states, and regionals. The team had two swimmers to qualify for states, Emily Mann and Eason Melton. Emily Mann qualified for 200 IM and 100 backstroke in both preliminaries and states for both events, she placed fourteenth in both events finals. Eason Melton qualified for the 100 butterfly in preliminaries, she placed twentieth. There are scholarships students can get from excelling in swimming. “We are always looking for new members to join the team!” -Coach Lunsford.

Start of the Track Team!
On February 19, Varsity boys and girls track tryouts were held. Coached by Ms. Wimberly and Ms.Williams, the first track team practice began on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Sources say that the first track meet will take place on March 20th. Train hard Huskies!

On Thursday, February 8th, the North East Carolina Prep (NECP) middle school girls’ basketball team emerged victorious in the highly anticipated tournament. They were up against Cardinal Charter School. The event was thrilling and brought together talented, young athletes from various schools to compete in a display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination. NECP’s triumphant win highlighted their exceptional skills and emphasized the tremendous potential present within the middle school girls’ basketball community.
NECP was back on the court Saturday, February 10th, the NECP middle school girls’ basketball team faced a challenging match in the ongoing tournament in Raleigh. Despite putting forth their best effort on the court, the team unfortunately fell short and lost to Sallie B. Howard by just 3 points. The final score of 23-26 reflected a hard-fought battle between the two teams.
Although the NECP middle school girls’ basketball team ultimately faced defeat, their performance was nothing short of impressive. The players showed skill, sportsmanship, and determination throughout the game. Despite the outcome, they can hold their heads high knowing that they gave it their all on the court.
