On Wednesday, March 13th, 19 students went to Simply Natural Creamery with FFA in Ayden, NC. At the start, students were greeted by a baby cow which they were allowed to pet. The students got on a wagon pulled by a tractor, where they were shown calves and adult cows. Students saw where the food was stored, how it was transported to the cows, and how much they ate. At that point the tour guide told them the history of the Jersey cows and where they came from. Students were then shown where the milking cows stay and how they are milked. Free ice cream was provided and students could go to the gift shop. Then the students left and went to Farmer And The Dail, where they were greeted by an old teacher who worked at NECP, Ms. Dietrick. The food was amazing and students were allowed to socialize with each other inside and outside the restaurant. They played games outside like Cornhole and Connect Four, and sat on the rocking chairs. It was an incredible experience for the students who attended.
On Thursday, March 14th, Future Farmers of America, held their monthly meeting. During the meeting, the members had the opportunity to learn what it is like to work in the field of forestry. Two hard-working men in the field of forestry who work for Tarboro, Adam Greene and Preston Pennington, gave a detailed, informational presentation on the subject. FFA members were fascinated by the presentation and got a chance to see the trucks they use to help save lives. Forestry is more than a career, the science of managing, planting, conserving, protecting, and repairing forests.
Bible Club
March has been an exciting time for the Bible Club. Not only has there been an increase in members, but there has also been interesting discussion on a new biblical topic – the Crowns received in Heaven, our eternal rewards.
The discussions began with a lesson on storing treasure in Heaven. The instructions for this can be found in the Gospel of Matthew 6:19-21 - 19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The discussions over the weeks continue to cover specifically the Crowns received in Heaven:
1. Faithful pastor
2. Enduring persecution
3. Looking forward to Christ’s return
4. Leading a self-disciplined life
5. Faithfully witnessing
Verses that describe the Crowns are the following: 1 Peter 5:1-4, James 1:12, II Timothy 4:8,
I Corinthians 9:24-27, I Thessalonians 2:19-20.
In the coming weeks, the Bible Club will delve into the study of Revelations.
Remember, the Bible Club meets every Wednesday in Mr. Coggin’s room from 3:15-4:00. The Bible Club is not just for students, everyone at NECP is invited to attend; snacks are provided.
