The NECP FFA Chapter will be participating in Tarboro’s very own Christmas parade on December 10th! If any FFA members would like to ride on the fun winter float they can sign up by finding a sign up sheet outside of either Ag. room. Only 5 middle schoolers and 10 high schoolers are allowed to be on the float. The NECP chapter will hold their annual Christmas party on December 14th in the NECP upper school gym. Students who attend can bring a dessert to share with other FFA members. You can sign up in front of Mr.Mayo’s door. You can also exchange sweet gifts between you and your friends at the FFA party! All families are welcome to join the winterfest of fun. There is no December chapter meeting for middle school or high school due to the Christmas party taking its place.
The NECP FFA is giving back to the community of Tarboro by hosting a Community Service Day. It will be held on December 1st, from 1pm - 4pm at the Tarboro Town Hall parking lot. You need your own transportation in order to attend. We’ll be putting mulch around various places downtown. Make sure you bring work clothes!
There will also be a Bell ringing event to spread the spirit of cheer and joy. High schoolers are allowed to go,it will take place December 4th and 5th between 4pm-6pm. Again, your own transportation is needed.
In the November Chapter meeting, the NECP FFA held Operation Christmas Child, which gives to children in need all around Edgecombe County. Included in the boxes are lots of goodies such as socks, notebooks, paper, and pencils. The picture below shows one of our beloved FFA members and Mr.Mayo holding a box for one of the children in need.

On November 17, 2023, NECP’s theater arts teacher, Ms.Scipioni, took I.T.S. members on a field trip to see Once on This Island. The musical was held at East Carolina University’s (ECU) McGinnis Theater. Once on This Island tells the story of a peasant girl who falls in love with a rich boy from the other side of the island and bargains with the gods to save his life. One of the main discussions in the musical is racism and colorism. This is exhibited by light-skinned aristocrats, dark-skinned peasants, and the way the aristocrats treat the peasants. On a more positive note, Once on This Island was ECU’s first full person-of-color production. The songs were captivating, and the storytelling was incredibly immersive. Ms.Scipioni made a great pick, and I would absolutely recommend this show to anyone!
On Tuesday, November 22, I.T.S. held a Thanksgiving-themed bake sale to raise money for the spring musical. The bake sale contained a wide assortment of goodies, such as pumpkin and sweet potato pies, macrons, honeybun cake, cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, and homemade bread. The bake sale took place during lunch and raised over two hundred dollars. The theater department would like to express their gratitude to everyone who participated in the bake sale.

The Bible Club – Advisor, Mr. Coggin
Pastor Mark Hurley continued the discussion on the topic of the omniscience of God. As they studied the scriptures, they were reminded of God's perfect and all-knowing nature. Students learned of the awesomeness of how God knew every detail of the future, including the birth of His son, Jesus Christ. Students made connections to the prophecies in the Old Testament that foretold the coming of the Messiah, learning how God's omniscience extends beyond time and space, allowing Him to have a perfect understanding of every single human being; past, present, and future. This should bring comfort and reassurance to everyone, knowing that God is fully aware of their needs and that He has a perfect plan for their lives. The club members discussed how God chose the exact time and place for Jesus to be born, fulfilling the prophecies and bringing salvation to all humanity, while reflecting on how God used ordinary people, such as Mary and Joseph, to fulfill His divine plan. This is to remind us that no matter how insignificant anyone may feel, God has a purpose for everyone. They conclude all their discussions by praising God for His omniscience and blessings in prayer.
Meetings: Every Wednesday with Mr. Coggin; snacks provided.
