Pep Rally
NECP had its first Homecoming Pep Rally of the 2023-2024 year. Organized by the student government association, the school brought all of its students together to celebrate the success of its fall sports season which included: Volleyball, Soccer, and Cross Country. They even recognized this year’s graduating class of 2024. There were also many activities made to excite all of the students including a performance from the NECP cheerleaders and Step Team. SGA then planned some entertainment by taking student volunteers and having a fun relay race. They were even able to convince teachers, Ms. Scipioni, Mr. Rhodes, Ms. Williams, and Mr. Mayo, to participate in the race. Finally, there was even a surprise near the end of the rally when four boys came in front of the entire student body and showed off their school spirit by lifting their shirts to reveal the NECP letters painted on all of them. The rally was filled with laughter and energy, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We can not wait to see what SGA has planned next!

The Macclesfield Fall Festival
Upon arrival, the Macclesfield Fall Festival was full of activity. Newborns to those not so new, were full of smiles and welcoming spirits. The ride operators greeted everyone with happy faces and were always willing to help the little ones climb the bouncy house ladders or step up onto the Spinning Strawberry. Lots of aromas from the delicious food cooking filled the air. Many dishes were offered, from bar-b-q sandwiches and sausage dogs to the infamous funnel cake. Many crafts were displayed for onlookers to admire. A highlight was the wood carvings done by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lassiter, who are the owners of Cross Country Creations. Their display consisted of beautifully carved animals, some with the fur of the carved animal used as the backdrop for the 3D carvings. Another highlight for everyone was a booth set up by Maccripine church, which included rock painting, creating balloon shapes, and friendly conversation. This year's festival also provided us with live country music. While some tapped their feet, others ascended from their chairs and danced away the evening. It could be concluded from the smiles of little ones and parents alike that it was a great festival for all.

Trunk or Treat
Thursday NECP had its famous Trunk or Treat event going on. There were cars parked in the parking lot with people giving candy to trick-or-treaters. There were food trucks and a bake sale. The real highlight of the event though was the haunted trail with the actors scaring the kids and the kids screaming. Emery Smith, who played the big bad wolf, explained his experiences working at the haunted trail, “ Scaring the kids was the best part in my opinion. It was an absolute blast! This was the best cast and crew I have ever worked with.” He then thanked everyone for coming out and enjoying the day.
