ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:
- What is line?
- What is the function of line?
- What are the characteristics of line?
- How can line be used to create 3D forms?
OBJECTIVE(S):
- You will create a line drawing of a variety of objects by applying the characteristics of line.
- This exercise will help you take a step back from your familiar drawing techniques, and encourage you to consider the functionality of line to create 3D forms.
KEY TERMS:
- Line:
- a point moving in space.
- Horizontal Lines:
- suggest a calmness when used in a composition
- Vertical Lines:
- vertical lines seem to reach toward the sky suggesting growth and inspiration
- have a sense of boldness, strongness, and stability
- Thin Lines:
- can be timid, delicate, or weak
- Diagonal Lines:
- show action, falling, leaning, or growing
- Pointed or Jagged Lines:
- both express uncertainty, anger, or frustration
- Meandering and Flowing Lines:
- Meandering lines- whimsical and happy
- Flowing lines- graceful and mystical
NOISE ART PROJECT DIRECTIONS:
For this project, you will apply your knowledge of lines and how it pertains to the creation of 3D forms by creating a line drawing using a variety of objects. You will observe and draw 5-7 objects in front of them using only lines to represent their forms (NO SHADING). You will overlap objects, have some going off the page, etc. The closer your lines are inside the object, the better, especially for round objects. Once you finish drawing, you will trace with marker (each object should be a different color). Be careful where you trace.
- Introduction to project.
- Start Final Project (receive feedback from Ms. Moreno at least 3 times throughout the process).
- Submit Final Project to Google Classroom!
