Mentor Group Spirit Activities
The goal of our project is to increase school spirit through Mentor Monday activities, and bring MVRHS students together by means of school-wide competition and group projects.
2019-20
We felt it would be fun to have all the homerooms participate in a school wide activity that was hands-on. We did two activities.
We did a door decorating contest during spirit/ homecoming week to increase school spirit.
Came up with the idea for a door decorating contest
Ordered materials for contest
Provided each homeroom with materials to decorate door
Asked staff members to judge doors
Judged doors
Announced the winners of the contest at fall pep rally
We did a “Gratitude hands" tree” at the end of November
Ordered materials
Had each student of each homeroom cut out an outline of their hand and write what they are thankful for during Mentor Monday
Cut out tree
Stapled tree and hands to bulletin board in the 400’s hallway
Student Leaders: Avery Simmons and Emily Anderson
Faculty Mentors: Natalie Munn, Olsen Houghton, Nell Coogan, and the judges of the door decorating contest
