The main goal of this project was to make the girls locker room at MVRHS a more beautiful and inclusive place. We aimed to create a space where students were willing to spend time in and felt they could use as much as they wanted.
As student athletes we know how important it is to have a space to go to when you need to leave your equipment, hang out before practice and get ready for the day or even a game. The girls locker room is an area that is shared by all girls sports teams, from fall to spring. Upon walking in you are met with, soccer cleats, field hockey goalie pads, ice hockey gear, tennis rackets and lacrosse sticks. We wanted to curate a space where people would be comfortable going to frequently.
Bought a new mirror for the wall (this mirror is much larger and cleaner)
Took down the old bulletin board
Replaced the bulletin board with plywood that we painted white
Touched up the paint around the mirror and the plywood
Bought frames from Art To Frames
Put pictures of local student athletes up on the plywood
Attempted to get some quotes engraved (needs following up)
Need to follow up with Mr. Seabourne about getting quotes engraved on a piece of wood
Talk to Ms. Dingledy about the larger project ideas we had in regards to the locker room
Possibly paint the locker room
Change the lockers to be like all the newer ones
Remove the showers
