The Montgomery Township School District is proud to present amazing full scale productions each year. Cast and ensemble positions are open to all students in the school by audition. In addition, we have a vibrant theater technology community with a large number of students participating in stage crew, set design and construction, lighting design, and sound. No matter their role, every student is an equally important part of our theater family in creating exciting and compelling productions. We are excited to present shows to what are often sold out audiences each year at LMS, UMS, and MHS
LMS (grades 5-6) presents an annual Spring Musical each year in April. Recent shows have included Finding Nemo, Matilda, and The Music Man. LMS casts two totally separate casts and each gives their own performance. This maximizes the number of 5th and 6th grade students who can be involved in the show.
UMS (grades 7-8) presents an annual Spring Musical each year in early March. Recent shows have included The Wizard of Oz, Frozen and Footloose. For students interested in being a part of the cast or ensemble, auditions are typically held in December. We also have an active student stage crew who makes sure our shows run behind the scenes.
MHS (grades 9-12) presents 2 productions each year. In the fall, our students prepare a full scale play which is typically performed in November. In the spring, students work to perform a professional scale musical production with a live student orchestra performing as the musical accompaniment. Our stage crew, lighting, and sound help to create a production that you would expect to see on a professional stage. Recent play productions have included Radium Girls, The Laramie Project, and Almost, Maine. Recent musical productions have included The Addams Family, Grease, and Chicago.
