Village Elementary School is where our orchestra program begins in 4th grade! At the end of their 3rd grade year, every student is invited to work with our teachers to determine which instrument would be best for them. Based upon that, our teachers recommend which instrument each student should learn. Possible orchestra instruments in 4th grade include:
bass
cello
viola
violin
Here is some important information about how the VES band program is structured:
Each year we have about 100 students play in the VES 4th Grade Orchestra!
Every student is scheduled for a small-group lesson once a week with a few peers who play their same instrument.
Small group lessons happen during the school day while classes are taking place using a pull-out model.
All the students come together as one large orchestra to rehearse one day a week before school.
