Welcome to the MHS Choirs! The MHS Choir Program offers our students an opportunity to develop their independent musicianship, explore challenging and exciting repertoire, develop important social and leadership skills, and grow in their creative decision making. Most importantly, there is a focus on all students feeling welcome and safe in our choir family. The MHS choir room becomes a home away from home where students have an amazing time learning to sing music as a very high level. Our choral program prides itself in helping students to find their voice and use it to express themselves. Music is the vehicle through which we build confidence and artistry. The MHS Choirs have had the opportunity to perform across the United States as well as in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Canada, and beyond. Here is some more information about the MHS Choir Program:
In the curricular choir program, there are three ensembles:
Concert Choir - this is a mixed choir and where our 9th grade students join our program here at MHS.
MHS Chorale - this is an auditioned treble voice choir open to students in 10th-12th grade.
Chamber Choir - this is an auditioned mixed choir open to students in 10th-12th grade. Students receive honors credit for this course in their senior year.
There are between 120-140 students in the MHS Choir Program each year.
All choir classes have 2 teachers allowing for students to receive individual help, sectionals, lessons, and coaching.
The MHS Chamber Choir performs multiple times throughout the year. In the past, they have performed at state conferences, local and regional festivals, collaborations with local universities, choral concerts across the district, and community and school events.
Every four years, students are given the opportunity to travel abroad and perform a concert tour with the MHS Choirs. Their most recent tour was of Montreal and Quebic City. In the 24-25 school year, they will be performing throughout Ireland.

MHS Musical Productions
While the UMS Musical Production is not specific to the choral program, this is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in singing during one of our strongest after school programs. For more information about our theater productions, please click here.
Choraliers
The Choraliers is an after school treble ensemble that is open to all students at MHS. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings.
Tenor Bass Ensemble
The tenor-bass ensemble is an after school ensemble that is open to all students with a tenor/bass voice at MHS. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings. This group has gained fame for their exciting and boisterous performances!
MHS Coffee Houses
The MHS Choral Program hosts 2 annual Coffee House performances where we turn MHS into a coffee house and give students the opportunity to perform individual or small group performances of music from all different genres.
MHS Choirs Tour Ireland! - April of 2025
The MHS Choirs will be performing a concert tour in Ireland this coming April, 2025. Concerts will take place in Dublin, Kilkenny, and Galway.
