Village Elementary School is where our band program begins in 4th grade! At the end of their 3rd grade year, every student is invited to work with our teachers to determine which instrument would be best for them. Based upon that, our teachers recommend which instrument each student should learn. Possible band instruments in 4th grade include:
flute
clarinet
alto saxophone
oboe
trumpet
French horn
trombone
baritone
percussion, beginning with keyboard percussion
Here is some important information about how the VES band program is structured:
Each year we have about 180 students play in the VES 4th Grade Band!
Every student is scheduled for a small-group lesson once a week with a few peers who play their same instrument.
Small group lessons happen during the school day while classes are taking place using a pull-out model.
Students are divided into 2 bands, each with about 90 students. Each band rehearses every week one day before school.
In addition to the students' before school band rehearsal, they also have a before school sectional once every 2 weeks
