Principal's Letter

Dear Members of the Islander Community:

Welcome to the Middletown High School Student Handbook!

Please take some time to become familiar with this Handbook as an introduction into the expectations for all students at Middletown HS.  We have a dedicated and passionate staff that are invested in making sure your student has a safe and welcoming experience here at MHS.  Our goal is to help support independent problem-solvers and conscientious global citizens.

The purpose of this handbook is to clearly outline the academic, social, and behavioral policies, procedures, and expectations that govern life at Middletown High School. In order for students to become effective citizens in a democratic society, they need to practice and understand their rights and responsibilities. One of these responsibilities is to be aware of school policies and procedures as well as the consequences of failing to abide by said policies and procedures.

What follows on this website is the most recent iteration of one of our school's most important guiding documents.  Please be aware that each year, there are additions, subtractions, and amendments made to the handbook. These changes are informed by past experiences and serve to make Middletown High School the best place that it possibly can be for students, faculty, and staff. For this reason, I strongly encourage you to read through this resource carefully so that you have a clear understanding of each topic presented.

Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding anything that you read in this handbook, please don't hesitate to reach out via the contact information provided below.  As we move past the COVID years, we are invested in committing to re-establishing  executive functioning skills in our students to help increase their proficiency in planning, organizing, completing tasks on-time, time management, and perseverance to name a few.

Our goal is to build Grit and Grace as students will encounter many obstacles on their path to adulthood, here at school and in the community.  In order to be successful students, we need to help create kind members of our school community.

We look forward to our work together~

GO ISLANDERS!

Warm Regards,
