Positive Behavior Intervention Supports

In the fall of 2011, Middletown High School emerged as a state leader when we chose to implement a Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) program. The goal of this PBIS initiative was to create a more positive and respective culture at MHS. We continue to stress the importance of this program in our school.

PBIS emphasizes that classroom management and preventative school discipline must be integrated with effective academic instruction in a positive and safe school climate to maximize the success for all students. The emphasis is on the use of the most effective and most positive approach to addressing even the most severe problem behaviors. Most students will success when a positive school culture is promoted. informative corrective feedback is provided, academic success is maximized, and use of pro-social skills is acknowledged.

At MHS we strive to meet our P.R.I.D.E expectations. We want our students to be Prepared, Respectful, Involved, Disciplined, and Excellent. See the PRIDE Matrix provided below for more information on the Middletown PRIDE approach.
