Extra - Curriculars

Extra - Curricular Activities : MHS is committed to providing a variety of extracurricular activities that provide students with opportunities to discover and expand their talents and interests. Extra-curricular activities enrich the curriculum by providing a wide variety of experiences in which a student can participate. Students 14 are encouraged to participate in one or more activities, while maintaining academic success, and a positive attendance record (including punctuality). Participating in sports and/or extra-curricular activities is a privilege .

Students must follow all policies set forth by the Club Advisor and/or the activities sponsor. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with these published procedures.


Student Behavior Policy

Club / School Sponsored Events

All students attending school-sponsored events are expected to display good sportsmanship and proper behavior and are subject to all rules and regulations of Middletown High

School. This applies to all events, whether they are held on the high school campus or at an off-campus location.

Students must follow all policies set forth by the Club Advisor, the activity sponsor and Middletown High School .

Students who are deemed academically ineligible after joining an Extra -Curricular Activity/Club will be notified by the Advisor.

All dances/events sponsored by any class or group affiliated with Middletown High School will be subject to rules and regulations of the school as well as all disciplinary action.

Students must be free of any pending disciplinary action and they must be academically eligible in order to attend any school sponsored dance or extra-curricular activity (including Homecoming, Junior and Senior prom).

Students arriving at the dance/event who are not in compliance with the school’s dress code may not be permitted into the dance/event.

Middle school students are not to participate in high school dances for safety and accountability reasons.

In order to be eligible for attendance at any social function occurring on a school day, students must attend school on the day on which the function occurs.

All students must be in school for at least 4 out of 5 blocks to participate in sports or activities.

If a student is dismissed, it must be for a medical appointment, driving test, or court date. Students are expected to return to school once appointment is complete with documentation. Documentation from the office is to be brought to the attendance office to file. Parent letters are not official documentation and will not be accepted.

Upon the student’s or parent’s notification of an assigned suspension or other disciplinary actions, the student will be prohibited from participating in ANY extra-curricular activities or school sponsored events, until the consequence has been served.

Suspension from school may result in removal from a club or co-curricular activity.


Band

The purpose of the Marching Band Club is to increase student interest in music, increase student exposure to music performance, train students to be competent and literate musicians, and to provide the Middletown High School community with musical performances at school and community events. The Band also takes part in several different competitive opportunities.
