We went to little Molas lake to test the lake water to see if the water quality was healthy or not. My group was learning about the turbidity of the water which is how clear the water is. We found out that the NTU of the lake was around 10 which is healthy. We did many projects on the water and wound that the water is healthy in basically everything.
We are making anchor charts for unit one of our science section. We have to add to them everyday after science class making sure that we put down all the information that we learned that day. At the end of the unit we turn this in and get our grade. Click here
This quiz talked about the things that we have learned so far in science, like what protons are made of, what the atomic number means, what the valence shell is, and then finally the difference between an ionic bond and covalent bond. I got 6/6 which is a meets. I think a goal I would make for myself for the future is to be a little more prepared because on the last 2 questions I didn't really know the answer so I guessed. I could have added more detail to my Anchor chart to help me solve my problem.
This is my letter to the 5th graders. We had to make this about the Laws of mass. This is where mass cannot be created or destroyed. On this we had a list of things that we had to add. One of which was a diagram representing how mass moves through atoms while they bond. On this project I got an Exceeds because I had a lot of detail on it and I wrote a lot. I gave my letter to Mrs. Isaak to give to the 5th graders.
In this quiz there were 8 questions about ionic bonds, covalent bonds, physical changes, chemical reactions, and finding the difference between a subscript and coefficient in a problem. If you got 1-3 questions right then you got a developing. If you got a 4-5 questions right then you got an approaching. Then finally if you got a 6-8 then you would get a meets. I got 1 question wrong making me have a meets. I mixed up what a subscript was. I said a subscript is how many molecules are in a reaction and the real answer is the subscript in how many atoms of the element are in a molecule. I think I could have gotten this right if i just looked at the answers a little bit longer.
At the end of the science unit we had a test. The test had 37 question and I got 36 correct. I am really proud of my grade and I think I did really well. Though on the question I got wrong it asked me how many grams the element iron has. I was confused and I didn't know how to get the answer, I thought I was supposed to multiply the two numbers instead of add. I put down 4 because it was my best answer even though I knew it was wrong. After we got our test scores back I looked at the questions I got wrong and I corrected it so that I got every answer correct.
