Mine is Confidence. At the beginning of the year, I didn’t really know what confidence meant to me and I didn’t use it at all. I only started to know what it meant near our POLs and that is when I started to use confidence. At the beginning of the school year I would stick with the people in my friend group and the only new people I would hang out with were the people that my friends made friends with.
By the end of this year, I have understood what confidence means and I am using it more. I am getting better at speaking in front of people and I am less scared to talk to people that I am not very close with. I have gained enough confidence to make friends by myself and I am talking to more people that I don’t know that well. The intersection that I was on helped a lot because I was with people I didn’t know very well for a whole week so I made new friends with people that I wouldn’t have made friends with if we were just at school. I think this year my confidence has changed the most because we were talking about it more and I needed a lot of confidence to present in our exhibitions.
Grade Level Lens (What is it and how has it shifted this year? What can you share to highlight your reflection on Confidence?)
The 6th grade lens is Confidence. At the beginning of the year, Confidence meant that you were comfortable in what you were doing to me. At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated this lens by speaking in front of the school when we were giving our awards away.
By the end of this year, I think that I have done very well building up my confidence. I have met the 6th grade lens because In the Columbian exchange Cafe I had to speak in front of other peoples parents that I didn't know.
Challenges and failure can teach us about confidence because you can learn from the mistakes and learn how to overcome them and become more confident about what you are doing because you know what not to do. I have had to deal with challenges and failures because one time during our math homework I kept getting really close to finishing when I missed a question and it pushed me back. So I kept trying and after a little bit I finished because I learned from my mistakes.
Today I have invited my grandma to be my inspiring community member,
At the beginning of the year, I tried to be like this person in my life by showing the habits of heart and mind in the things I did.
My grandma shows a lot of the habits of heart and mind in everything she does but the ones that she demonstrates the most are effort and respect. She uses effort when she paints because painting can be very tricky but she puts a lot of time into it and hard work too. She demonstrates respect because even if she knows the person or not she always is kind to them and makes them feel welcome.
By the end of this year, I have been working harder and using all the habits of heart and mind when I am doing school projects. And that is why my grandma is my inspiring community member.
