Group work goal: My goal for group work projects is to make sure my work I make looks really good and has true information.
One project we are working on is a Project about geology including rock layers of the Southeast region.
We used gram crackers, a rice crisp treat, and frosting to show how plate tectonics move.
We used starbursts to represent rocks and to also represent the rock cycle.
In this project I have learned about the geology of the Southeast. Some things I have learned was how to interpret the rock layers. In our model we made the rock layers out of clay and put them on the side of it. We interpreted the rock layers by putting shale in the era that was when the southeast was under a little bit of the ocean. In our model it represented the southeast's layers very accurately because we put a lot of time into the rock layers and made the color as close as we could to the real rock’s color. In this I collaborated with my group a lot. We had to work together when we made the rock layers and the slides that went with it. We all worked together to make it look the best as we could and have true information. The roles that each of us played was that we all painted and mixed the colors together. We needed a lot of communication in this project because we needed to talk to see who was going to paint each section of the model. My presentation skills, I think I did good by making eye contact and pointing at what I am talking about on the model. Something I think I could work on for my next exhibition is to talk a little bit slower so I don’t mess up and so others can understand me. My overall reflection on our exhibition, it went really well. I memorized all my lines and I think I was loud enough to hear. One thing I would probably do different in another project like this was that I would maybe memorize my lines more even though I did but when we presented at our exhibition I messed up 2 times and I wouldn’t like to do that next time.
In this project we made a page about the planet Mercury and this is all the information we researched and put this on our table.
In my space exhibition I got an Exceeds. So me and my group member Quinn created a model of the planet Mercury and created a one pager together. My other partner was creating a game so parents could test their knowledge in a game form. One thing that was challenging for me was working together with my partner, so I worked well with one of them but the other was harder because we were mainly doing the work. When I was researching about mercury I learned many cool things like how Mercury has a very big crater that is about 950 miles across. I also learned that me and one of my partners work really well together. So me and one of my partners created a model of Mercury and Earths moon to compare them to each other. Me and Quinn brought in many props for our model like I brought in fairy lights, rainbow fairy lights, a clear vase, and lights to go inside our model. Quinn brought in things to help us create our model and she helped paint the planets and their stand. I think me and Quinn worked really well together and I think we should work together again. So something that happened when we were presenting was we forgot some of our lines and we had to look at our script. I think I could have done a better job memorizing everything and having more hand gestures. One effective thing that my group did was we made our table very spacey so it would catch people's eyes so we had a lot of people coming to our station. This project made me like and appreciate space a lot more because I didn’t know that much about space and I learned a lot in just this one exhibition. I didn’t really appreciate space before now but I realize that space is really amazing. Though there was one thing I wish me and my partners had done because our exhibition wasn’t really interactive except for the game but that was all so if I did an exhibition like this I would probably have more interactive elements. I created this poster to hand out to people and i put a QR code on it so that they could donate if they didn't have cash on them.
We had a bake sale downtown and raised about $100. We donated all the money we raised to plant more trees to decrease air pollution in the air
We made a slide show to present to our class about air pollution and how it is bad.
In this project I learned so much about air pollution. Me and my partner decided to plant trees to decrease air pollution in the air. So we teamed up with an organization that when you donated money it planted trees. We made posters, went around our neighborhood telling people about air pollution, and we also had bake sales. In this process we raised $421. After we had time to raise money we presented our project to our class and made a slide about what we did and how air pollution is very harmful to our planet. I think me and my partner did a really good job on this project because we spent about 5 hours outside of school making sign, baking, having our bake sales, giving out our posters, and telling people about how its harmful. The different roles me and my partner played were that I would make the signs and the posters for our bake sale. And my partner would bake. then for making the slide show we both did the same amount of slides. Me and my partner put a lot of effort into this project because we had to make the signs readable and so they caught your eye. Some obstacles that me and my partner faced were when we had to plan for our bake sale we had to do a lot of organizing of who would bring in what deserts.
