If the water breaks and a loop of the umbilical cord washes out with the fluid:
• Put the birther in the hands and knees position.
• Call 911, the baby’s oxygen supply can be cut off. You will be taken by ambulance to the hospital.
• If the cord is still protruding stay in the hands and knees position even during the trip to the hospital-it reduces the pressure on the cord.
• Give the birther oxygen via face mask in the ambulance.
• Be prepared for an emergency cesarean as soon as you arrive at the hospital.
