Birth centers care for clients with fewer "one-size-fits-all" care plans than hospitals, with each labor treated uniquely.
Instead we care for you using:
•Intermittent auscultation (using a hand-held device to monitor baby's heart rate) which allows freedom of movement
• Rest and activity as your body needs- no rush
• Food and drinks from home as you like
• Skin to skin contact between family members and the baby encouraged
Some situations require intervention, but in general:
• No routine IVs
• No withholding of food and drink
• No continuous electronic fetal monitoring
• No routine separation of family and baby
• No enforced bed rest
• No routine episiotomies
