The Midwife Model of Care is rooted in care of the individual, respect of the whole person, and low-intervention care for low-risk people. At the Midwife Center we support the needs of our transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive clients by offering pre-conception appointments, intrauterine insemination, and an opportunity to establish a trusting healthcare relationship with our small staff of nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses.
Recognizing the importance of gender-affirming language, we encourage all our clients to share their names and pronouns, preferred language regarding the body and family roles, and any other important information we will need to provide respectful care.
Our staff is comprised of cisgender women, transgender people, and gender expansive people. The hospital healthcare teams we transfer clients to (as needed) are also comprised of cisgender women, transgender people, and gender expansive people.
