Any individual who is considered low-risk throughout their pregnancy can birth at the Midwife Center. The following attributes do NOT exclude people from our care:
• Rh negative blood
• Group Beta Strep (GBS) positive
• Over the age of 35
• History of miscarriage
• Most with mitral valve prolapse
• Medical conditions which do not affect pregnancy, or medical problems which may affect pregnancy, but are well-managed with a plan of care
Individuals with the following attributes CANNOT birth at the Midwife Center:
• Twins
• Breech at term
• Gestational diabetes requiring medication
• Active genital herpes lesion at the onset of labor
• Previous cesarean birth
• Labor beginning before 37 weeks or after 42 weeks
• High blood pressure
Clients with certain medical conditions may need to transfer to a different provider for a higher level of care according to their insurance coverage.
