Our birth center is a safe, home-like, private place where labor and birth are treated as normal life events to be shared with whomever you wish. It is meant to be an extension of the home rather than a modification of a hospital.
Laboring people are assessed by the CNM and an experienced registered nurse (RN) to assure that birther and baby are doing well. Clients are encouraged to walk, eat, drink and get into positions that are comfortable for them during labor and birth. At birth, the baby is immediately placed into the hands of the birther.
Each new parent receives careful guidance in the first hours after birth, so when they are discharged in four to 12 hours, they feel confident in their ability to breastfeed and care for their baby. The CNM and RN closely follow the family via phone, home visits and office visits in the first few weeks of the baby’s life.
