We values quality leadership that is inclusive, diverse, collaborative, and teamwork- and mentoring-oriented with likeminded organizations. Our planning efforts and actions are based on these values and guiding principles because quality higher education governance is best practiced in a fair and equitable environment.
In concert with the American Council on Education’s Women’s Network, the AWHE Network is committed to improving the general climate and professional environment for women in Arizona’s higher education systems.

If you have been watching the winter Olympics, you may have noticed the significantly reduced number of people watching the events. This is due to China’s attempts to reduce the spread of COVID. It made me wonder what this must be like for an athlete, putting their heart and soul into their sport and not having the connection with the fans. Paralympians have routinely experienced this lack of fan support due to scheduling. Paralympics have their own opening and closing ceremonies separate from and typically two weeks after the able-bodied Olympics have concluded. A significant and positive change this year has included advertising of all athletes and their events. I hope that the irony of the circumstances this year will lead to greater fan support of Paralympians and someday, inclusive Olympics with all events occurring within the same time period. The achievement and wonder we get from watching the games should be the common ground, not the status of disability. Here is the link to the Paralympics schedule:
I encourage you to watch a few events and hope that you will become a fan.

Where are you from, originally, and/or currently?
This has always been a difficult question for me, so I'm gonna remix it a little ;)
My Dine clans are: Naakai Dine'e, Tachiinii, Naakai Dine'e, Todichiinii). Basically, I was born in Brawley, California (close to Yuma and the US-Mexico border) and this is where we are from on my mom's side. On my father's side, we are from up near Inscription House, Arizona. I've spent a decent amount of time living in Many Farms, AZ; Ann Arbor, MI; and Houston, TX so all of them have special places in my heart! I've moved around a lot but I currently live in Show Low.
What is your educational background and what makes you great at your job?
I'm an alumna from Blue Ridge High School, University of Michigan, Arizona State University, and now I'm currently attending the University of Arizona for my PhD. in Higher Education. I like to visualize my own educational journey as a wad of yarn with a distinct beginning/end and a mess in the middle, because I've had a lot of experiences finding out who I am. These experiences empower me in my roles within this community because I can empathize with a lot of what our people are going through, and it fuels me to make this institution a welcoming place for everyone.
What do you love about your job?
My role as part of the Early College team is such a great first-chance for the college to work with the budding scholars/future leaders of our community. These students are doing amazing things and we get to see their fearless passion and unyielding motivation to reach their individual goals. It's inspiring work!
What are your favorite things to do/eat/read?
I'm working on a PhD, I don't "do things" much haha. When I have time, I love trying foods of different cultures. Food is my love language. All my favorite memories growing up include cooking for others and enjoying food together, and so I love learning about new cultures through food! One dish I've been wondering how to eat is Gefilte fish... it looks intimidating but I invite anyone to share a dish with me!
What's something you want to do once the pandemic is over?
I'm going to Disney World! For reals though, my daughters are at the perfect age of being able to enjoy the magic of an amusement park. When they see pictures of the Disney parks they call it "Disney Plus" because so far we've only enjoyed it through the app, they don't know there's an actual place of magic!!!
NPC is one of the participating community colleges in rural Arizona in a joint project to create eResources such as eTextbooks for their students. These resources will be shared freely with others.
The group was awarded a three year Department of Education grant for over $800,000.
NPC faculty are already hard at work on their eResources.
