The Instructional Innovation Division is growing from its start date, July 1, 2020 and has acted quickly to serve the needs of the NPC Community. The division houses support from the Libraries, Instructional Technology and Curriculum Support, Perkins Grants, Early College, and Office of Accessibility and Inclusion. We serve our students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Innovation Connections is a monthly newsletter that features division updates and college-wide innovation and collaboration. Contact Shannon Motter if you wish to contribute to the content.

Wenting Weng is the new Instructional Designer for NPC.
She has lived in Texas for the past eight years and is currently completing her Ph.D in Educational Psychology, focusing on data statistics and educational technology.
Fun stuff first:
Wenting enjoys growing vegetables, reading, and watching science fiction movies. Her favorite movies are The Matrix and Disney’s Soul, and her favorite TV Drama is Stargate.
What would she like to do once the pandemic is over?
ROAD TRIP, maybe to Canada.
Goals?
Her goals are to finish her PhD. And she’d love to learn how to paint, publish books, particularly science fiction books.
What does she love about her job?
Wenting feels that her Team is really trying to make a difference to help faculty and students and help them to make their teaching and learning experience better. She enthusiastically said, “I love my job,” especially how flexible her job is. And she loves that new ideas can be tried out.
What makes her a great addition to the Innovation Team?
She has worked with a large variety of faculty over the years, from diverse backgrounds. She is very open-minded. And all of that time doing research means that she’s had to develop new ideas and that helps with her job assisting faculty here at NPC. She has a background in instructional design. And she is detail orientated, efficient, and great at communication.
Wenting has an educational background in JD (law school for undergrads, common in China), an MEd in Educational Technology and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. She hopes to complete her Ph.D in Educational Psychology in the coming months.
Wenting is originally from Guiyang in South West China, in the Guizhou province.

Our wonderful Early College team is already busy meeting with our partner school districts to discuss class scheduling for the upcoming academic year, and prepping for group orientation and advising sessions!
At the link below is a very simplified snapshot of our Early College Programs - and the question we always get asked: what is the difference between "Concurrent" and "Dual"? (Short answer - depends on who's teaching!)

Homemade Pizza
I love pizza, and so do my children. With a dairy allergy prominent in our family, we cannot just order one. We also prefer whole wheat and tons of veggies. With all our veggies, it is best to use a thick crust. (Right: cheesy pizza)
