Third grade students learned about the life and artwork of artist and story teller, Faith Ringgold. We discussed her children's book, Tar Beach, and noticed how she used memories to illustrate her work. Faith also uses fabric and quilt making in her art process. For this assignment, students were asked to recall and illustrate a memory. They learned how to sew and made boarders along the edges of their quilts.
