Agenda:

  1. Take out your passage annotations so I can check homework!

  2. Independent reading.

  3. Let's look at a model explication essay--look at how the student broke up their paragraphs, ordered their focus, and wove in devices/analysis. (Work on focusing your thesis on either CHARACTER or THEME).

  4. Group annotations!

    • With peers who have chosen the same passage as you, continue to annotate your passage together as a group. Share what you are seeing and add to your passage annotations.

  5. Now, individually, write your thesis in the Google Question.

  6. Rubric examination

  7. If time allows, begin to work on your essay--your goal is to write your first paragraph!

  8. Last few minutes of class: complete reflection for your presentation and receive feedback.

Homework: Make sure you have a fully annotate passage AND a thesis for your paper by next class (Wednesday).
