Independent reading.
Let's look at a model explication essay--look at how the student broke up their paragraphs, ordered their focus, and wove in devices/analysis. (Work on focusing your thesis on either CHARACTER or THEME).

With peers who have chosen the same passage as you, continue to annotate your passage together as a group. Share what you are seeing and add to your passage annotations.
Now, individually, write your thesis in the Google Question.

If time allows, begin to work on your essay--your goal is to write your first paragraph!
Last few minutes of class: complete reflection for your presentation and receive feedback.
Homework: Make sure you have a fully annotate passage AND a thesis for your paper by next class (Wednesday).
