DebateMate

The Humanities faculty were very pleased to invite DebateMate to The Leigh Academy. DebateMate is a charity specialising in working with schools to improve students' abilities to communicate and have responsible debates on real issues. This opportunity was funded by the Leigh Academies Trust and is part of our plan to support students to get back on track after the isolating effects of lockdown.

DebateMate has been running for 13 years, and has worked with the likes of Bill Gates, so it was an exciting opportunity to expand the horizons of seventy-three of our Year 12 students across the Humanities subjects of History, Global Politics, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Psychology and Health and Social Care, as well as wider members of the Debate Club. As a result of this partnership, the weekly school Debate Club has gone from strength to strength and is held every Tuesday after school on the da Vinci second floor plaza. Students who wish to attend can simply come along or email Mr. Bradley for further information.
