10X Challenge

Business students at the Leigh Academy have been engrossed in the 10X Challenge. This national competition from Young Enterprise provides £10 seed funding to our Year 10, 12 and some Year 13 business students to help spark their entrepreneurial spirit.

On Friday 11th March, 11 of the 25 teams involved received their crucial loan to spend on materials and marketing over the following week before selling started on 21st March. The Leigh Academy was host to 25 dynamic enterprises supplying refillable candles, car washes, sustainable ground coffee, handmade jewellery as well as eco-friendly scrunchies. There were also games and tournaments planned including a week-long football competition and a-prize-every-time raffle, along with numerous other creative endeavours.

Students worked in teams and those that turned a profit returned an additional £1 to build the legacy fund for next year's business shakers. Keep watching those The Apprentice and Dragon’s Den episodes for hints and tips on what to do (as well as what to avoid).
