Dear Families,
And just like that, February is gone in a blink! First and foremost, we wanted to thank you for attending the Sustain event last week. Please see the video and pictures below.
We collected over 1600€, all of which will be donated to a water tank in Eswatini via the MOSS Foundation Inc. This far exceeded our goal and we are so thankful for the generosity of our community and the power of our learners through their studio experiences. A huge thanks to Lars and team for leading this charge. The learners were not only amazing in their individual and group presentations, they also had a wonderful time…and have left a global impact!
Speaking of impact, we have a team of learners, parents, and staff taking off for Rwanda this weekend. We wish them all the very best on their journey as they share, learn, grow, and discover ways in which we truly are global citizens.
As with all change, there is mourning of what was ‘replaced’. We have heard from some parents that they were sad not to have Showcase and Showshow this cycle. Cycle 3 will resume our previous traditions, with the scheduled Showcase scheduled for May 30.
This month in the newsletter we bring you some videos and pictures from the Sustain event, end-of-cycle reminders, intensive updates, and a few program notes. Do not forget to watch each Friday afternoon for key updates for the following week. These are all sent via EdVoice, so make sure you have the app downloaded!
360 Presentations
This is a reminder to all families, and very important for our new families. At the end of each cycle each learner has a culmination of their journey through the presentation of their 360. At this event parents, mentor, peers, and other learning team members are invited to hear about learning highlights and growth of the cycle. Sign ups for 360s will go out Friday, March 8. Please note the 360 schedule notes below.
Extra Time
Throughout Intensives, learners are welcome to stay from 16:00-17:00 to finish (or iterate) any deliverables/outputs from Cycle 2. This is a great opportunity to make sure the work shared in both the 360 and the LV are of a quality that truly reveals the intensity of the learning process.
IMPORTANT March Schedule Reminders
Schedules are a little different this month - please look closely!
March 4-14: Intensives (ALL learners have the below schedule)

10:00-14:00 on Fridays
March 15, 18, and 22: Normal schedules (15 & 22 being Friday schedules)
March 19, 20 and 21: Learner 360 presentations. Learners are at the Hub all day leading up to their 360, and then through their presentations.

Once a learner’s 360 is completed (and they have attended at least one as a guest), learners have the option not to come into the Hub.
Explorers & Creators need parent permission to not attend the days after their 360 presentation. Please email Benedetta at Urbanhub Barcelona if your child has permission to be absent.

Excited to hear more about your learner’s intensive, possible outings, and intended cost? Please make sure you click on the associated intensive link below to get all the information you could possibly need. And yes, your learner should definitely know which intensive they are in by now!
On Thursday, March 14, Learnlife will make our annual visit to the Saló de l’Ensenyament, Barcelona’s biggest educational fair. Here learners will have the opportunity to explore tertiary education options offered in Catalunya, meet with representatives, and ask questions. This excursion is a good choice for learners considering formación professional as well as university. Interested learners should let their programme lead and/or mentor know if they are interested.
Please note that you should sign up your learners with Richmond before March 10. Nicole has sent you all the relevant codes. All learners who are sitting exams this year should be doing the GCSE revision intensive.
One of our Parent Hub leads, Marina Villatoro, did a Ted Talk that can be found here: Marina’s TedTalk Video.
Though this certainly touches more on parenting, the ethos behind her talk aligns with Learnlife and we thought it would be nice to share with the larger parent community. Thank you, Marina!
