We are very excited to welcome you, to make sure that you have a better idea of what to expect, hereβs a schedule for the orientation week.
On Wednesday, your learner will be choosing their intensive. If your learner will not be here during the upcoming week, they can select their intensive using the form that will be posted in their respective Google Classroom. They will receive the invitation to their programs' Google Classroom, during the next week.
We're providing you with descriptions of the available options to facilitate discussions with your learner before they decide. Please note, this cycle all intensives are free. In the future, there are some that include a cost, and we will always notify you in advance (paid options exist because of the need of specific materials for the development of the workshop).
To enhance community building among the Explorers, we are offering a smaller, curated selection of intensives tailored to foster closer connections during the initial weeks. Please see all intensive options below.Β

Message from Nicole, lead of the βGet Out!β Intensive (Creators & Changemakers):
We are excited to invite you to share your passions and local knowledge by volunteering for our upcoming intensive, βGet Out!β from September 9th to 20th. We are looking for parent volunteers to partner in our daily outings in Barcelona, ideally to places you know well and can make accessible for a group of 10β15 learners. This is a great opportunity to enrich our community and learners' experiences with your unique insights. If interested, please contact Nicole at nicole@learnlife.com for further details.
With the beginning of the year, we will have program specific meetings for you to be able to learn more about your learner's program and ask any questions you may have to the program leads.
Reason Why: Research shows that too much device use can be harmful, negatively impacting learning, health, and social skills.
The Ministry of Education of Catalunya requires measurements regarding devices.
Our goal: Encourage safe and limited use of devices.
Bonus goal: 50% of learning experiences are tech-free!Β
Every learner must leave their phone at the front desk when they arrive.
Phones will not be returned during breaks or lunch.
On field trips phones must stay on airplane mode and out of sight (unless specifically requested or allowed by an LG).
Devices (laptops) are to be used only during learning sessions, for specific activities and/or after permission from an LG.
Devices cannot be used during break/lunch, and must be put away right after the learning sessions. To continue working on their device during lunch, they can ask an LG to work in Chiringuitos.Β
Phone: Bringing my phone into the space = 1 hour of community service.
Device: During the session, the device is taken away for the session.
During lunch or break, the device is taken away for the day.
LGs will have non-device activities ready, just in case.
Starting in the 2024-2025 academic year, we will be offering Advanced Placement (AP) programs alongside our NEASC accreditation. For the upcoming academic year, learners will have the opportunity to take advanced placement courses in precalculus, psychology, English language and composition, and environmental science. All these building blocks can be accessed by Changemakers AND second year Creators (environmental science can also be accessed by first year Creators). If your learner is interested in joining the AP Building Blocks, please complete the following form: https://forms.gle/jdRc8qAdu1ugRhGs8
Your child can bring their own lunch daily. Alternatively, you can place an order for their lunch through our catering partner, the Healthiest Choice. If you would like further details, please email urbanhub@learnlife.com.
Once learners turn 16, they can leave the Hub for lunch and breaks. If your child is in Creators and under 16, they can leave the Hub for lunch with your permission. Please make sure they bring their own cutlery. We recommend that your child also bring healthy snacks with them in case they would like to eat during breaks.
During the upcoming week we will be sending the instructions and information necessary for you to sign up to our parent communication platform Edvoice.Β
