February 9th & March 1st: Real Talk with Devin at the Urban Hub
09:00 - 10:00 CET @ Urban Hub
Open to all parents
Real Talk is a safe space to talk about what's real in your life. In this case, we'll focus on the joys, trials and tribulations of being a parent. Our hope is to create a space where we can be vulnerable with each other about our fears, frustrations, successes, and uncertainties.
We open with a check-in, providing a space for each person to talk about what's real for them as a parent.
Next, we open the space to a conversation about whatever topic seems to be the most relevant for the session, which typically emerges from the check-in. During the conversation, we share our personal experiences, and pose questions to the group or each other. In our experience, the most transformative part of Real Talk is the opportunity to be vulnerable in a non-judgmental space of empathy and mutual support.
The session will be led by Devin. Parents are welcome to stay behind at the hub and socialise for 30 minutes after the session concludes.
February 12-16: Semana Blanca
Winter break. No sessions at Learnlife.
February 26: SUSTAIN Event
17:00-19:00 CET
(see details below)
One of the questions we get most from parents is, "How do you teach Maths?"
At Learnlife, we don't limit maths learning to Math Dojo or numeracy sessions. We incorporate numeracy in real-world contexts and as part of transdisciplinary learning and projects.
To help you better understand our approach, we've created this 4-minute video featuring Adrià, Learning Guide and Urban Hub numeracy lead.
We hope you find it useful!
We have started preparing for the 180’s - that’s a mid-cycle reflection! Your learner will be adding to their Personalised Learning Plan and will work towards turning their reflections into a mini home-presentation.
Joel gives us a quick update on what the Explorer have been up to in the video below.
PLP Updates: Before the February break, all Creators will be sending out their Personal Learning Plans again to their families, which will now include links to their partial outputs of cycle 2. This will allow all families to get a sense of what their Creator has been up to in terms of learning, competencies and deliverables.
IGCSE Exams: If your learner has expressed interest in sitting the IGCSE exam this spring/summer 2024, please make sure you read carefully the email sent by Nicole early February 1. Exams run between May 10 & 14, and can be found in detail on this link.
Adri gives us an update on the Creators programme below.
We have Changemakers who have already been accepted to Sarah Lawrence College, Hampshire College, and Geneva Business School. CONGRATULATIONS to our learners! The ability to drive one’s own learning and develop unique and meaningful work were crucial factors in these learners' acceptances.
There are visits currently scheduled to Geneva Business School (February 2nd) and Harbour Space (February 23rd), where we currently have Learnlife alum enrolled. More to come as learner needs and interests become clear.
We have a block of tickets purchased for Saló de l'Ensenyament (March 14th). This is the main educational fair in Catalunya and has representatives from all types of post secondary options. Priority will be given to Changemakers and older Creators.
The city of Barcelona has launched the annual education campaign, In-forma't, a 6 week series of activities and talks aimed at helping young people find their path and make choices. If learners are comfortable with local languages, this is an amazing resource!
Remember, if you or your learner have questions about next steps beyond Learnlife, Jenny and Nicole are always happy to help!
Claudio gives us an update on the Studios and the Sustain event.
Please find below a message for parents from Lars:
Dear parents,
We are having our sustain event which is all about providing solutions, ideas and fun ways to discuss and improve how we navigate the world towards a circular future.
We have 5 spaces for parent stalls! If you work in a field related to sustainability, eco design or circular futures, we would love to invite you to be part of our showcase! It is open to the public and families and a great way to inspire our learners side by side.
All funds raised go towards a water tank in eSwatini Africa link.
For example, you could give a mini workshop that people can donate towards or a percentage of what you sell if products, would be equally amazing!

Dear parents,
We are Mori, Samir and Thiago, 3 Changemakers that are currently taking the entrepreneurship building block. We are designing an app to help teenagers reduce their screen time using reward mechanisms. If you could take 5 minutes to fill out this form it would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards.
