The theme of the third year of study is Roman history, law and government. Students review basic Latin grammar and vocabulary, and study more complex syntax and more sophisticated vocabulary, in order to develop further competence in translation of Latin prose and poetry. Translations from Pliny’s letters, Livy’s history, Medieval Catullus, and Ovid provide a broad spectrum of Latin literature. While reading these texts, students will study more extensively the history of Rome focusing on the turbulent end of the Republic to the downfall of Rome.
Semester 2: LATN1101 in the high school classroom. We will follow the CSCC curriculum and pacing. Per Columbus State: LATN 1101 is an introduction to the fundamentals of Latin with practice in reading and writing. It includes selected studies in culture.
