This elective course explores key aspects of social studies through cinema. Students will view films that depict pivotal moments in history or exemplify key concepts of social studies to better understand four main disciplines: History, Geography, Government, and Economics. Through critical analysis, class discussion, and creative projects, students will examine the role of film as both historical document and a medium of storytelling in order to show understanding of the four main disciplines. The course will work to enhance understanding of history while also developing students’ media literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
