Health and Social - KS4
Curriculum intent:
Health and Social Care is one of the vocational options available to students in years 10 and 11 at Les Beaucamps High School. In Health and Social Care, our primary aim is to enable all students to achieve to the best of their ability through a variety of ways of learning, with the overall goal of applying skills and learning through hands-on experiences and vocational settings. We undertake the BTEC Level 2 First Award in Health and Social Care.
Our curriculum aims to develop young people who:
Maximise their potential through striving for excellence in everything they do
Are respectful, resilient and honest citizens
Are confident and care about others
Can show empathy
Feel supported and included
Develop specific knowledge of health and social care and up-to-date and conceptual understanding
Are able to research using a wide range of sources
Could be the health and social care sector workforce of the future
Our provision delivers a range of experiences, both in and out of the classroom, to enrich and extend student learning. Our curriculum will:
Ignite the curiosity of the health and social care sector and the roles within it
Developed a practical understanding of the health and social care sector
Develop sector-specific knowledge
Development of key skills that prove aptitude in health and social care such as interpreting data to assess an individual’s health
