In R.P.E students are encouraged to explore the world’s major religions alongside views which are independent of religion. The course develops skills including empathy, respect and tolerance and helps students to make sense of the wider world in which they live in at a local, national and global level.
Curriculum Implementation: Pupils study the 6 main world religions alongside alternative world views at Key Stage 3. Each year we study one Eastern and one Western religion. As well as learning the key beliefs, teachings and practices of these religions’ pupils consider a wide range of ethical and philosophical themes including Animal Rights and Poverty.
Impact: Students are equipped with an appreciation of how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture. They will develop analytical and critical thinking skills essential to progress to further study or the world of work.
