Hui
Last week at hui some of the base 4 student’s presented. We presented our UC4L project that we have been working on and some other students have presented their Museum narrative writing that we have been working on the past weeks. Base 4 has been practising a dance that we did today.
Me and my group presented our UC4L project. I was so nervous that I wasn’t looking at the students, because there were lots of students that were at hui today. When we were finished speaking I felt good.
Some of the students' parents came to watch us. We really enjoyed today at hui. Well done to all of the students that were presenting today at hui!

Taha Tinana - Cross Country Training
This term, we have been training for cross country as much as possible! We have been preparing for cross country since Week 2 of Term 2. We have our cross country in week 8 on Wednesday 14th June. The practices have gone really well. Everyone tried their hardest each time to beat someone faster than them. Training has helped to improve Base 4's speed and stamina. To encourage us to try even harder, we sometimes race in whānau groups. The winner is the whānau group that comes back in the least time and they get around 500 whanau points.
From the school cross country, teams will be made to represent the school at the North Counties Cross Country event at Te Hihi School.
UC4L
Base 4 has been focusing on the phases from the innovation model, for the past 2 weeks each UC4L group has been working on the understand and design phase from the innovation model. We first worked on the understand phase, in week 4 each teacher had a workshop for three different things that would help us with our UC4L project. Audio visual, Note taking and google searching. These workshops would help each group to use different/proper audio and visual websites to find more information about their projects.
After working on the understand phase from the innovation model, we then moved into the design phase. During this phase, we had to draw or create designs and sketches labelling what things were and what materials and colours they would be.
After that, we finally got to start the implementation phase - the making! In Week 6 we have had two awesome days of creating and really getting stuck into our projects. It has been amazing to see how some of the projects are progressing.
Counties Manukau Sport - Hockey
For the past three weeks we've had Counties Manukau Sport in teaching us hockey skills. Week 4 we did Safety, how to hold a hockey stick correctly, and Dribbling, walking and moving with the ball. In week 5 we moved to Push Passing. We did this really well and had a lot of competitions as to who could pass the most in a certain amount of time. Week 6 we got to put our skill into practise and played a game! It was tricky getting into the game but we did a fantastic job and some of us even scored goals!
