Playbook revised August 26, 2024
Collaboration is the goal for this year. You can help your provisional educator to be a better collaborator and to take initiative in collaboration. Some ideas are listed below:
Give teacher the opportunity to lead a PLC
Ask them to share successes they had in their classroom last year
Allow them to ask questions of other PLC members.
Possible Discussion Questions:
What level did you complete your student teaching? How have your expectations changed since then? What were you not prepared for?
How confident are you in starting this year?
What can I do to assist you right now that will reduce your anxiety?
****Set up an observation time before JPAS. Use this time to complete a "trial JPAS" and help address any issues before the JPAS observation by administration.
Review provisional educator’s classroom management plan and help them reflect on how it is working
Observe provisional educator and collaborate on what went well
Answer questions about JPAS evaluations, assist in gathering evidence for interview/portfolio
Make sure they have emergency sub plans
Check in and see if they have questions about:
Grading
Scheduling field trips/field trip protocol
Assessments- formative and summative
Students with IEPS and 504s

Help mentee with resources on interventions
