Coaches
Introduce provisional educator to JPLS and their personal skyward account.
Provide teacher with a map of the school and take a tour of the facilities.
Introduce common acronyms and their meanings.

Teach how to use Skyward, Mastery Connect, and Canvas.
Discuss staff norms such as dress code, Friday dress, and lunch areas.
**Review the spreadsheet and make sure all the information is current and correct.
Make sure all provisional teachers are assigned a trained mentor.
Make sure teacher's name is their legal name recorded on CACUTS.
Mentors
Introduce yourself to your mentee, begin building a trusting relationship
Establish a consistent meeting time
Sign Mentor Contract (To be kept with school; mentor and provisional educator may want to keep a copy for records)
Begin a mentoring log to track hours for relicensure. You can count up to 90 hours for relicensure if you keep a log.
Observe provisional educator and provide constructive feedback
Ensure that provisional educator knows where things are in school, aware of supplies and budgets, copy room, etc.
Review the following:
Attendance/Skyward
Mastery Connect/SLOs
Legislative money
Drills/evacuations
Technology needs
Substitute procedures (Frontline/AESOP)
Disclosures/syllabi
Grading policy
Homework policies
Make-up work
Routines and procedures
Classroom Layout
Protocols for sending students to the office
Copy room procedures
set up a folder for certificates to be used for Relicensure points
Help plan the first day and first week of school
Review Management plan with age appropriate rules and consequences.
Discuss communication with parents/setting up volunteer schedules
Discuss upcoming SECONDARY parent/teacher conferences. Include how to conduct those meetings and the support staff that is available.
Provide emotional support as needed
Standards Based Grading - make sure they know all they need to know for report cards.
Elementary - Prepare for Parent Teacher conferences, share tips
At the end of the month, reflect and discuss what went well and what needs to be changed. Set appropriate goals.
