Provisional educators should be moving into a phase of teaching that sees beyond oneself and now includes students and the team. Now that they have two years behind them, they should be more comfortable looking to student data and sharing that data with their team. They should be moving toward a more collaborative teaching style based on data.
Review lesson plans and talk about they can be improved
Increase student involvement
instructional strategies that meet the needs of diverse students
Align assessment with objective
Discuss concerns about students who may be struggling and how to implement Tier 1 interventions
Provide support as needed for grading, skyward, and report cards
Review need for parent communication for struggling students
Reflect on JPAS Goals
Discuss balance and priorities in teaching - what is needed most for student improvement? What are essential pieces of planning and what things can be taken away that don't add to student improvement?
If mentor has not completed an informal observation, meet with provisional educator to discuss a time to observe based provisional educator's current goals and provide constructive feedback
Provide emotional support as needed and encourage provisional educator to look beyond his/her classroom to other educators.
Revisit goals set in September and adjust as needed. Reflect on October and set goals for improvement
Help Secondary teachers prep for the end of the first semester

What do you know about teaching for understanding? How can you adjust your planning to reflect this?
How did your favorite teachers make content meaningful for you as a student? Can you incorporate some of those ideas into your plans?
What can I do to assist you right now that would reduce your anxiety?
